Did you know that AA Allen was doing this while segregation was still the law. He was color blind not literally but figuratively. I never hear any other minister who has prayed for people and saw miracles say bad things about other ministers. Only the ones that have never saw the miraculous power of God. Ted, great insight into the scripture. You could also link it together back to the Gospel. Not everyone should be teachers for the judgement is more harsh. Also, the warnings against those who preach in the streets to be seen by others... ect. I enjoy your videos and how you give your own perspective as food for thought. I bet there are thousands of people who have predicted the assassination of some influential person at some point in time. Who will notice that they were wrong? Nobody. People forget and move on. There's almost no risk attached to being inaccurate.

As soon as the assassination of attempt happened, I predicted that people would come out and claim that they predicted it.

We seem to have a problematic fixation on "if it comes to pass it must be God". The Bible is very clear though that this is not the only criteria when it comes to discerning whether a predictive prophecy is from God. We also don't take into account an understanding of the nature of communication in relation to God. Another big problem. It is easy then to discern that the speaker might be speaking clearly, but the listener is distracted or not listening the right way or there is other "noise" obstructing the message. We shouldn't be surprised if this relates to listening to God. Job 33:14 relates that it is often difficult for human beings to "make out" God's communications. This is particularly the case when the means of accurate and consistent discernment are not even looked for. My observation on this is that just because you can hear from God does not mean that you always do. For my own gift and ministry of prophecy I rely on God to help me discern his voice accurately and develop means to apply to this end. I also believe that we can as Christians apply ourselves to learning to hear God's voice and that this is a good undertaking. Also I would look at why the person is prophesying. What are their motives? What is their Modus Operandi? Do they reveal things about their relationship with God beyond the "hype". Is there "leakage" of where they are at and where they are coming from? Also there is too much emphasis on prophecy being about "predicting the future" to "proove" that God is saying something through you. I'd refer you to Jesus comment on people "seeking for a sign" because a inexplicable supernatural sign means you don't have to believe, it means you are seeing and that seems to be people's preference. But even when Jesus ministered supernatural signs and predictions, what was peoples response? I think Brandon has a genuine christian faith but like everyone he has muddled understandings about things. It would be great if he changed his approach to his prophetic ministry because currently he is in the "mixed bag" category and the problem with that is that he is attributing to God stuff that he hasn't discerned is not from God. We would get rid of this idea of "Prophets' being worthy of being looked up to which also seems to be a problem if people weren't looking to obfuscate their responsibility to develop their own relationship with God and learn to hear from him. Even if someone prophesies correctly, how do you know it wasn't just that they made a prediction. People do this all the time based on knowledge or intuitions and it doesn't mean they are hearing from God if it comes to pass. It doesn't mean that the provenance of the message is from the Lord. If it comes to pass who is to say it wasn't just a matter of chance and probability or just human agency rather than divine agency? Living in Tulsa during the early 70's was amazingly life-changing and I am grateful for the experience. Like you my walk with the Lord evolved over several decades as I discarded some aspects that didnt quite line up with scripture.

I had to demolish and then rebuild thanks to "prophecy teachers" going back over 40 years!

If God wants HE can raise up a prophet. But there are scoffers of this opinion, ridicule and reject but God can do whatever, whenever and use whoever HE wants . Weather we believe or not. We will know a true prophet if his predictions are from the Lord, IF they come true. Kim Clements are coming true, today, in 2024.

Thanks for making this video, Ted. Definitely thought provoking. I hadn't heard of the Barnum Effect until I saw this. I'm inclined to think you're onto something. But, on the other hand, I'm conflicted. It seems to me that if Hamon were intentionally duping people then, by contrast, he'd actually discourage folks from recording/documenting his prophecies word-by-word. In all other workings of life, we document things for the sake of clarity, transparency and accountability. Why wouldn't that be the case for something as intimate as God speaking to someone through an intermediary? I honestly don't know. My chief hangup in all of this is the notion that the fulfillment of a prophecy is contingent on the behaviors and/or beliefs of the one being prophesied to. That, to me, is far more problematic than the Barnum Effect you've described here (i.e. documenting the prophecy word for word). "Hey buddy I'm so sorry that this prophecy our Lord and Savior asked me to pass on to you didn't pan out. Sounds like more of a you problem than a me problem!" To me, that kind of defeats the purpose of asking God for guidance to begin with. If He's the type of God that's going to give me juuuuuuuuuuust enough detail to whet my faith but not enough to actually effectuate His will... well... then... like... that's a God who's a little too coy (and perhaps even passive aggressive) for my tastes. I don't know. In skimming Hamon's book I encountered a few passages in which he spoke pretty viciously of some businesspeople who couldn't convert his prophesies into material blessings for the church (it's in the chapter on prophesies in business decisions). It was so jarring that he struck me as someone who is awfully hard-hearted for an emissary of God's encouragement to His people. Just a vibe I get.

My fear about AI is that it will crutch critical thinking and be a lazy safety blanket for ideologies. An "oracle" for fringe ideologies ranging from the far left to the far right Christian Nationalist. AI will be as perfect as it creators and open to biases as humans are. Think of pro-America AI vs Pro Russian and China AI trying to outdo each other with "factuals". It would lead to a near return to the ancient oracles promising victory based in the signs/facts. AI is promising but it should not be an educational and a decision making tool.

If the Bible says it, we have no choice but to believe it and Jesus commands believers to heal and to work miracles and this kind of video is doing nothing to further the faith or to serve Jesus and if it is not serving Jesus then there is only one other that it can be serving....Believe the Bible and not someone who sits in judgment of people of faith.
